General Questions

  • Classes at the Yoga Lovelies Club (YLC) are a unique blend of traditional yoga poses and safe strengthening exercises. We move slowly and mindfully, with an emphasis on core muscles, balance and strength. At the YLC, you will learn to focus on your breath, calm your mind and access the burn in a way that is safe!

  • Classes at the YLC suit most ages and abilities. Modifications are always offered so you can adapt the poses to suit your body and safely explore the class at any level. All Yoga Lovelies are encouraged to work within their own natural limits. Just remember, we’ve all got limits! You will be given ample opportunity to challenge yourself at a high level in a way that is appropriate for your body, and you will be encouraged to rest when needed. And if you need to take it easy, you can always try our Gentle Chair Class!

    If you are a complete beginner, you are covered! As a YLC member, you will have access to a fully guided 4-part series for absolute beginners that is specifically designed to get you up and running with a regular yoga practice in 30 days. No equipment or experience necessary! You can read more about it on our YLC Membership page. If you have a specific issue you need help with, please feel free to get in touch and/or book a Private Session.

  • Absolutely not! The suggested age range is 45 plus, but all that means is that you will NOT be asked to leap into crazy handstands, whiz through fast-paced routines or drop into the splits. In other words, Yoga Lovelies are people who want to get fit and strong, without getting injured… A good goal at any age! The classes are designed to foster longevity in your life and your fitness, rather than ending your fitness because you keep getting hurt. YLC classes are indeed tailored to the over 45s, but they are also fabulous for anybody who wants to work hard and have fun in a way that is both healthy and sustainable.

  • If by “old people yoga” you mean sticking plank with perfect alignment, then yes it is! :)

  • Yoga is a stretchy-pants aficionado’s dream! Nobody at the YLC cares what you look like, but we do care about how you feel. Wear any comfy outfit that you feel good in.

  • If you are just getting started at the YLC, it is understandable that you might not want to invest in fancy gear. BUT I promise you will not regret splashing out on a pair of yoga blocks and a yoga mat! You can do yoga without these, but two blocks (made of foam/4 x 6 x 9) and a mat are highly recommended for making the poses more accessible. A blanket is also a good idea, or a large bath towel, for knee-padding and a pillow.

    Note: Our special 4-part Beginner Series is included in the YLC Membership and it is designed for people who have never done yoga before and who have no yoga equipment. So you can always start there and see if you like it! Remember, you can cancel anytime!

  • Coming soon! We hope to be selling yoga blocks and fun YLC Merch in the future! For now, you can buy yoga blocks online or at any sporting goods outlet. Just make sure they are made of foam with the following dimensions: 4 x 6 x 9

  • Yes! You can cancel your YLC Membership at any time. If you cancel after your billing date, your membership will remain active until the day it would automatically renew. For example, if your membership begins on the 9th and you cancel it on the 22nd, you will still have access until the 9th of the next month.

  • Once purchased, your YLC Membership will renew each month automatically. There are no start-up or cancellation fees, so while we cannot “freeze” memberships for travel etc, there is no penalty for temporarily canceling your membership and renewing whenever you are able to rejoin us.

Membership & Sign-Up Options

  • Sign up for our YLC Membership which is $50/month (cancel anytime) and includes the live and recorded weekly classes PLUS access to the full library of recorded classes and bonus videos, including a special 4-part Beginner Series. You can also sign-up for a single Live Class or On Demand ($15/class) or a Private Session ($150/hr) or a Free Class.

  • YLC Membership is built on our mixed-level Weekly Class taught live on Zoom every Tuesday at 6.30pm and available as a recording every Wednesday. We have now added a new Gentle Chair Class, live on Zoom every Friday at 9.30am. As a member, you will receive access to these two NEW classes each week (both live and recorded) PLUS the entire YLC video library, including over 40 hours of recorded Zoom classes, bonus videos AND a special 4-part Beginner Series.

    That’s less than $12/week for a curated yoga experience delivered directly to your inbox each week!

    As a YLC member, you can show up to the weekly classes live on Zoom or you can choose to access the recordings and do the classes in your own time. Or you can do both! The classes are there for you whenever you are ready, as many times as you wish.

    You might even find yourself wanting more… If so, hurrah! You’re covered! As a member, you will get access to all of the additional recordings in the video library, including previous classes and other curated content. You can dip in and out of the library for extra yoga shenanigans, as often as you wish. And for those who like to be more self-directed, you can use the class library to create your own program. Additional targeted series will be added to the library over time allowing our members to dive even more deeply into their best yoga life!

    YLC Membership also includes access to a private Facebook group where you can mingle with fellow Yoga Lovelies, ask questions and get free online support.

  • Classes at the YLC are a unique blend of traditional yoga poses and safe strengthening exercises, with a focus on proper alignment. We begin with a breath meditation and a gentle warm-up before scampering off into a yoga adventure specifically designed to increase your strength and flexibility, and improve your balance. At the YLC, we always end with a cool-down and a well-deserved relaxation!

    Weekly classes at the YLC are a curated yoga experience. Each week, we build on different themes and work on specific focus areas on a rotation. (eg abs, hips, neck, feet, shoulders) Weekly attendance will ensure that ALL of your various body parts get the attention they need on a regular basis and you can enjoy a well rounded, long-term program for body and mind.

    This approach is designed to take all the ‘thinking’ out of it, leaving you free to enjoy your time on the mat. No need to scroll around the internet wondering which class to take! All you have to do is show up each week and I will take care of the rest. And before you know it, a balanced yoga practice will be an easy and fun part of your busy life!  (Check out our Testimonials)

  • New to yoga? Don’t know where to start? That’s what our special 4-part Beginner Series is for! As a YLC member, you will be given instant access to a fully guided 4-part series for absolute beginners that is specifically designed to get you up and running with a regular yoga practice in 30 days. No equipment or experience necessary!

    Our Beginner Series is suitable for ALL abilities and covers ALL of the basics, with lots of extra modifications along the way. These four classes will gently introduce yoga into your life and teach you everything you need to know in order to join the regular weekly classes at the YLC when you are ready.

    As part of our no-contract YLC Membership, the Beginner Series allows you to dip your toe in and see how you feel. You can spend your first month trying out these four classes, and if you decide it’s not your cup of tea, you can cancel at any time!

    As with any physical exercise, good form is essential for avoiding injury. As a YLC member, you will become acquainted with how to achieve the safest and most beneficial form. As I always say, “Good form equals maximum safety and maximum benefits!” With a solid foundation of correct alignment in yoga, you can start to build your strength, balance and flexibility in a way that is healthy and sustainable.

    If you decide to stick around, you can do the Beginner Series as many times as you wish! Once you feel comfortable with these classes, you will know you are ready to join the mixed-level Weekly Class at the YLC. Or you might like to try a Gentle Chair Class. All of our classes are very inclusive. You will fit right in, I promise!

    Dealing with an injury? Feeling rusty? Our Beginner Series also works really well if you are dealing with an injury or health condition. (As always, check with your doctor first.) Or if you just need to take it easy. (Perfect if you are feeling tired or run down!) This series also works great as a refresher course if you’ve dabbled in yoga before but you’re feeling rusty, or if, perhaps, your mat has been lost in a dark corner, somewhere, housing a small colony of spiders!

  • Yes! You can drop in to our Live Weekly Classes on Zoom on Tuesdays at 6.30pm and Fridays at 9.30am (Pacific Time). $15/class. These classes are paid for on a weekly basis, so there is no monthly fee. You pay as you go. You just have to sign up by one hour before class (on the day) in order to receive the link, and off you go. The live classes are great for those of us who need a little more of a pressing appointment with our yoga mats, or if your lifestyle makes it hard to commit to anything too far in advance. You can still be part of the Yoga Lovelies Club and enjoy all of the amazing benefits yoga has to offer!

  • Yes! You can check out our FREE classes here! From time to time, the YLC offers other freebies and specials. You can sign up for our mailing list to receive notification of when these offers are running. Or, better still, sign up for our free neck stretch video at the bottom of this page, which will automatically put you on the mailing list for all future YLC freebies and promos! You can also find some fun stuff on Instagram and Facebook.

  • A private session is tailored to YOUR specific needs. It is a great option if you are looking for an individualized practice. You will get the kind of personal attention that allows us to really specialize things, just for you and your situation.

    Do you have a particular issue that you need help with? Maybe you would like to accelerate your progress or take a slower approach, or you have an injury you need to accommodate for a while. You might want a program that fits the specifics of your lifestyle, your fitness goals, your interests, or your curiosity. Or maybe you need a more interactive experience where you can ask questions in real time, and where I can really look at the details of your form so that you can get the full benefit of each pose.

    Private sessions always start with a relaxed chat to see how you are doing and what you need. Then I will guide you through a personalized routine, staring at you lovingly through the computer screen with my highly-trained hawk-eye to correct your alignment :) You can make specific requests, or leave it up to me to create classes that meet your expressed goals.

    You can book long-term private sessions, or just a session or two to work on stuff we do in the Weekly Class. ALL levels and abilities welcome. The sky is the limit. As I like to say, “If you can breathe, I can teach you yoga!”
