About Fiona

Hello! I’m Fiona.

Yoga has carried me through all of the ups and downs of my adult life and, after nearly three decades of practice, I am still amazed by the transformative power of spending time with the body and breath.

I have been teaching yoga for over twenty years and I am a self-confessed yoga nerd. My teaching style is precise and light-hearted, with a strong focus on correct form and the practice of mindfulness. I specialize in modifying the yoga postures for a wide range of injuries and health conditions and I have, on occasion, been called the “Queen of Modifications”, a title I DO take very seriously!

I blend traditional yoga poses with safe Pilates-inspired strengthening exercises to offer a unique recipe of Yoga Loveliness that will leave you feeling stronger and more spacious, in both your body and your mind.

Yes, you will feel the burn, but you will also be given plenty of opportunities to modify the poses to suit YOU.

As we like to say at the Yoga Lovelies Club, “Child’s pose is ALWAYS an option… And so is lying facedown on your living room floor.” We also say, “If you’ve decided to opt out of this exercise and you are currently lying on your couch drinking wine, that’s okay too.”

More of my story

When I am not on my mat, regaling my students with stories about how amazing yoga is, I am a documentary filmmaker and freelance content creator, also known as Filo Films. I am driven by human stories, social justice and animal welfare. I produced Mondo Stray, a four-part documentary series about stray dogs in Italy. I also spent three years filming in a prison just outside of Los Angeles producing video content for Pawsitive Change, a non-profit program that pairs incarcerated men with shelter dogs for mutual rehabilitation. I am the producer and host of a new YouTube series, Adopt a Yoga Assistant, in collaboration with Pasadena Humane. My goal with this series is to use my online yoga platform and filmmaking skills to help local shelter animals find a home.

I love the balance that yoga brings to my creative life. To me, doing yoga on the mat is a magical experience, but the true beauty of yoga lies in how it enhances everything we do off the mat. Feeling stronger, calmer and more at ease in our bodies is something we can all benefit from in our daily lives. But, on a deeper level, learning how to be more self-aware and connected to whatever we are doing in this moment - whether it is plank pose, communicating with a loved one, dealing with a work challenge or cuddling our pets - is yoga’s greatest gift.

Do yoga. Feel better. It’s that simple.

See you on the mat!
